We moved nearly 3 tons of paper last week. No, that’s not a typo. One of our recent print jobs involved 22 cartons of paper, with each carton weighing 38 pounds. But the interesting part isn’t just the 836 pounds of paper—it’s how many times that paper had to be handled. From loading the press and moving printed sheets to finishing, trimming, loading mail trays, carrying those trays to the vehicle, and finally stacking them at the post office, the same paper made several journeys through our hands.
When we added it all up, our small team collectively handled 5,852 pounds of paper—that’s nearly 3 tons—in the course of one week. Suddenly, being tired at the end of the week made a lot more sense! It’s a good reminder that there is much more to producing and mailing printed materials than what happens when you click “Print.” There’s a whole lot of lifting, carrying, stacking, trimming, sorting and moving behind the scenes.
But here's the part that makes us smile: that wasn't the only work we accomplished last week. We also completed several additional jobs requiring finishing and packaging, representing another 150 pounds of paper. In all, that's nearly 1,000 pounds of printed material moving through our shop and out the door.
We’re proud of the work that goes into getting our customers’ projects from digital files to finished pieces—and sometimes, we’re pretty proud of our sore muscles, too.
